Floating Castle was a site-responsive work for the medieval hamlet of Montegemoli in Italy as part of the biennial project M’Arte 2017. The work consisted of enveloping the south base of the fortified structure of Montegemoli in mist through powered industrial fog machines, with the castle appearing to float atop a cloud of smoke. Building upon existing bodies of work exploring the themes of perception, and the invisible aspects of natural phenomena, through the use of temporary time based installation connected with apparitions and mythological aerial landscapes.
